Why is registration required?
Since CSOG was first published in the year 2012, the amount of content has grown substantially. CSOG 3.0, published in November 2024 and updated since, encompasses 97 editions in 4 image orientation options, 20 Star Party Observing Programs, 2 observing aids and 33 "Periodicals" (editions for complete years of Objects of the Week / Month / Season) and contains unique information. More about this in the Release Notes.
CSOG was not created out of thin air. Updating CSOG, creating new editions, computers, the website, hosting >1.5 terabytes of content, etc. requires a lot of time and effort and does bring plenty of costs.
Contrary to popular belief, CSOG is not created by a community but is a one man show, by Victor van Wulfen.
While registration and support will not lead to a profit, nor offset more than a fraction of the significant costs made to create and maintain CSOG, it is needed to keep it alive: to create new editions, to update existing content and to maintain and update the website.
Registration validity
Registration allows downloading of all CSOG 3.0 content for the period of one year (365 days) after the day of the support donation.
